ÓMUR JÓLA

by Rúnar Ingi

A few words by Rúnar:

Ómur jóla is a new Christmas short film I directed, a portrait capturing a glimpse of life and community during Christmas in the remote northern towns of Ísafjörður, Flateyri, and Þingeyri in Westfjords of Iceland.

The film was shot this December over four days. The title is inspired by the Westfjords Christmas psalm Kirkjan ómar öll by composer Sigvaldi Kaldalóns. At its heart, the film is about time — how it passes, how it connects us, and the quiet beauty of the moments we hold on to.
